MILREU TERMAIS
The project is based on the integration and reinterpretation of the Milreu Fort as an essential component, fully engaging it as a nearby element that encompasses one of the spaces to be enjoyed.
After emerging from the showers, visitors are guided along a water pathway filled with drama and anticipation. With each step, the murmur of water blends with the whispered stories of ancient stones, creating an atmosphere of suspense. The journey ultimately leads to a majestic arch, standing tall like a guardian of time, inviting one to cross its threshold and embrace the next chapter of this sensory experience—where past and present merge in an intimate and eternal dialogue.
The final volume of the fort is the result of two forces dialoguing through time: the memory of the stones and ancient stucco, and the purity of modern forms, achieving a visual balance that represents and synthesizes the region’s architecture, the heritage of past centuries, and the solid architecture of Portugal’s great masters.
PROJECT CONCEPT
The solid stone walls that enclose the shower area, together with the raw concrete that closes the floor and ceiling, evoke the essence of an ancestral cave.
A dialogue between elemental materiality and solid forms envelops the visitor in an experience of primitive refuge.
