GOLONDRINAS: NIDO SEGURO 2022
One of the main problems in urban ecosystems is domestic and feral cats, which pose a significant threat to local biodiversity by hunting birds and other small animals. To address this issue from a defensive standpoint, a modular device was designed to protect swallows and their nests from cats.
The device consists of modules that replicate the natural crevices where swallows typically nest, mounted on a tubular steel structure.
At the top, a radial element provides a place where swallows can perch and rest. The most important feature for protecting the birds is the inverted stainless steel cone at the bottom, which prevents cats from climbing up and reaching the nests.
This solution promotes the conservation of swallows and provides a safe environment, out of reach of cats.
